This brown basmati rice is not only healthy, but delicious too!


4 cups organic brown basmati rice

8 cups filtered or spring water

1 teaspoon sea salt

In a 4 or 5 quart pot, add the rice. Fill with water to cover the rice. Gently move the rice around the pot with a wooden paddle then pour off water and repeat until the water is clear. Next, measure the water and add to the pot, cover and set aside overnight or for 6-8 hours. Then place the pot on the stove, add the salt, bring to a boil and simmer for 45 minutes on the lowest flame possible. Do not lift the cover at all until finished cooking. After 45 minutes, turn off the heat, lift the cover and stir with a wooden paddle. Put the cover back on and let sit for an additional 10 minutes.
